Kyoto Samurai House, a 300-year-old samurai residence.
Our family is descended from samurai, and we live upstairs. We made our home accessible to share the experience with rich culture and traditions of Kyoto at this historic samurai residence, to contribute to the preservation of this house and hand this tradition down to the next generations. Our goal is not to provide a run-of-the-mill tourist experience, but to immerse you in an authentic and enriching slice of traditional Kyoto, complete with warm hospitality that will make you feel as though you are visiting the home of a close Japanese friend. Since the kindergarten does not operate on weekends and public hoildays we will be closed. There may be some noise when our child (4-year-old son, very naughty boy) stays home-we appreciate your understanding.

Tea Ceremony & Sake tasting
5 kinds of Sake tasting
Experience the serenity of a traditional tea ceremony. Have a short meditation time(3mins) in the tea room and savor the taste of organic matcha, prepared ceremoniously, and taste up to 5 varieties of sake and for guests booking from us direclty we offer also 3 shots of Japanese Whisky(Yamazaki or Hibiki) OR learn making matcha with the whisk. For kids can choose Origami experience. You can take pictures with the traditional wedding Kimono (Ladies only) and samurai sword. Age 13 to 19 are ¥12000. Age 6 to 12 kids are ¥7000. Reservations minimum 2 - 9 people.

Simply tea ceremony
Tea ceremony experience in a tea room inside a samurai residence. After 2 to 3 minutes of zazen, you will receive a organic matcha during the tea ceremony in the historic tea room. The authentic tea room can only accommodate up to 2 to 5 people for private session, for mixed group, up to 15 people and we held the tea ceremony at Hiroma (Big tatami room).

Perfect for couples
Tea ceremony with Kimono. Have a short meditation(3mins) in the tea room and savor the taste of organic matcha prepared ceremoniously, and learn about how to make matcha with a bamboo whisk OR taste up to 5 varieties of sake. You can enjoy taking photogenic pictures with the traditional wedding Kimono (Ladies only) and samurai sword. Age 13 to 19 are ¥20000. Age 6 to 12 kids are ¥16000. Reservations minimum 2 - 9 people.

Experience the way of tea and Kimono

Experience the way of tea in a historical and traditional tea room. Learn about how to enjoy the powered green tea (Matcha) in a ceremonial way and experience an traditional tea ceremony in the tea room. Since there is a deep relationship between tea ceremony and Zen, as the phrase 'Cha-zen-ichimi' ‘茶禅一味’ suggests, we will share the way of meditation, and our guests will meditate for 3 minutes in the tea room before starting the tea ceremony. Afterthat, try your hand at making your own matcha with a bamboo whisk or taste up to 5 varieties of Japanese sake and for reservations directly booking from us with email, we offer extra 3 shot of Japanese whisky(Yamazaki, Hibiki, etc). For children cannot drink alcohol can try Origami or matcha making.
We serve only the high grade organic Matcha locally sourced from Kyoto, Uji.
Children of ages 6 -12 are ¥16000 per person.
Ages 13 -19 are ¥20000 per person.
Ages 0 - 5, are free. (Sitting in only, without kimono & Matcha)
